The Place Just Right

After a long journey, through the ancestral mountains, fertile valleys, and shimmering sometimes stormy waters of life, I’ve arrived at a familiar spot where I can rest and remember. I have longed to be here in the liquid quiet of this safe space. Listening, I hear my inner voice in harmony with the ambient song of nature. In the grace of this moment, I am grateful to be in the place just right.

I land -slightly fatigued, wizened and wise. Humbled and hopeful, I balance my breath and feel the crystalline well of my being bubbling with creativity. My senses awaken. Rain clouds are lifting. A tranquil pool of light beckons where an oasis sparkles close by. I will rest a bit and swim there. The view captures my painter’s eye and writer’s heart.

We all need a vista that grounds and strengthens. Whether a familiar or first-time destination, it’s a presence of place that resonates a deep sense of belonging and purpose. In the wilderness or populace, it’s our natural environment where we recognize ourselves through a landscape of relationships and sensory possibilities, in the present or in memory. Wherever we are, nature connects us to the pulse of life on the planet. Our senses awaken and are imprinted with the sights, sounds, smells, textures, and tastes of a location in time. These are the simple gifts of a place that brings us back to ourselves, every time we arrive and in every moment of fond remembrance.

The vibrant simplicity of an environment is how I regenerate my creative practice. Quiet and unplugged is a pathway to flow and the lush nature of the soul. It supports wellness and a mindful balance that gives a point of view -a new vista for healing, growing, and creating. The sight of morning light on pine needles, the sound of early birds greeting the day, the smell of the old camp and coffee brewing, and the taste of how sweet life is. I feel in touch, enraptured. Here I am native, aligned with the circadian rhythms of all existence.

Where is your place just right?
Why are you connected to that space and time?
Who is with you?
What are you doing?
If you’re already there or packing a bag to go, how will you express your creativity?

MOVE and find your wellness environment. Urban, suburban, or rural. When you get there, you’ll recognize the place and your place in it. If the water is calm, toss the pebble that brings the force of change that moves it to create new energy. Relax, and BE your ripple in the pond.

Now, I’ve arrived in the fresh season of my delight. Summer swims and salads and blank pages for writing and drawing. I crave the sound and motion of freestyle and brush strokes. This is the place just right for me.
